Miami Beach Tenants in Apartment Complex Shocked as Floors Collapse

On what should have been a quiet Sunday evening at 11:30p.m. turned into a shocking forced evacuation as a Miami Beach apartment complexes floors gave away and furniture crashed.

At the Ocean Bay apartment complex there had been earlier reports of water damage, but no one saw the structural damage coming that resulted from a buildup. Floors separated from walls and eight units affected, according to a Miami Beach Fire spokesperson. Residents of seven apartments had to be relocated to other areas in the building; others were given shelter at the city’s homeless outreach center.

The city’s building department stated that apartment complex had recently had some serious structural issues.
