Indoor Skiing in Miami?

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on September 26, 2012

Pelion Sunrise Developers have pitched a rather unusual concept for a winter sports complex, which would include indoor skiing, in South Florida. The complex would boast ski trails at least 2,700 feet long and even sport lifts and moguls. Yes, that’s right, moguls.

The developers also plan a large indoor skate park, the largest in fact, in the U.S., along with high performance electric go-carts, laser tag, paintball, and the list goes on. Sunrise Commissioner Sheila Alu remains skeptical that the plan is “real.” It seems the principal investor, Norman Canter, was the force behind “Solar Mountain” a complex proposed for Miami’s Biscayne Landing that was shelved in 2010. The project could bring much needed tax money and jobs to the area, if approved for the property bordering Sawgrass Mills Mall and the former BankAtlantic Center, reports the Huffington Post.
