Miami Tower Adds LED Exterior Lighting Staging Dramatic Effect to City Skyline

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on October 11, 2012

Notice any cool changes in the Miami’s night skyline in the last couple of months? The Miami Tower has a new look. In addition to putting on a stunning light show in the Miami skyline, the new exterior LED lighting of Miami Tower  will also result in tenants and the building’s owner saving almost $260,000 per year in energy and operating costs, reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1.2 million pounds and reduce energy usage by 92 percent.

The trend-setting LED lighting will also enable the operators to customize the outside display to correspond to holidays and other special days of celebration and honor. Organizations will also be able to promote and commemorate specials events by changing the lighting.

Miami Tower stands 47 stories tall with 623,000 square feet of commercial space. The upgraded lighting system is just one of several new projects for the tower.

The new lighting system will reduce the tower’s environmental footprint while at the same time allowing the city to display its civic pride on a grander scale without needing grand budget to pay for it.

Given the cost savings to both the tenants and the building’s owner, Miami Tower probably won’t be the first Miami building to convert to the new lighting system.
