Florida Residents to Receive $2K for Foreclosure Settlement

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on October 18, 2012

The 167,398 Florida residents who saw their homes foreclosed on due to fraudulent foreclosure processes by the nation’s biggest bank may be eligible to receive $2,000 in settlement monies. Eligible homeowners should start receiving their checks in early 2013. One-third of the eligible homeowners live in the Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

In order to receive part of the settlement, people need to send in forms as instructed on notification postcards previously mailed out to eligible borrowers. John Lucas, a spokesman for the Florida Attorney General’s office said they are continuing to track down any eligible borrower whose postcard was returned. If you feel you are eligible for the settlement and did not receive a postcard, you should contact the National Mortgage Settlement Administrator at 1-866-430-8358, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Central Time.
