Miami Beach Edition to Include Hotel and Apartments

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on December 13, 2012

Celebrity hotelier Ian Schrager is no stranger to trendsetting in South Florida.  Eighteen years ago, he undertook a makeover of Delano in South Beach. Now he’s going bigger with a new high-rise hotel and apartments at the site of the old Seville Beach hotel in Miami Beach.

Schrager has partnered up with Marriott International to open a 250-room hotel with 26 high-end residences in an 11-story building, and that’s not all. The property will also include a bowling alley and ice skating rink. Schrager said his goal is “to make staying in Miami really easy and effortless and make it the art of living rather than the job of living.” The price per square foot for the one to four bedroom units will be $3,000, Schrager plans on owning one at the Miami Beach site.

One “Edition” is already open in Istanbul with others planned in London, New York, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles and India. Schrager believes that Miami is no longer just a hot spot for tourism, but a city where people from around the world want to make their home.
