Bondi Encourages Borrowers to Get Their Portion of Mortgage Settlement

Red$graph_cropEven though the deadline for homeowners to receive the full portion of the mortgage settlement has passed, Florida state Attorney General Pam Bondi says homeowners should still apply for assistance.

Roughly 50,000 Florida homeowners have already gotten their part of the settlement, but 49 percent of all the sunshine state’s eligible homeowners haven’t responded to direct mail or phone calls telling them they are eligible.

AG Bondi calls the situation “frustrating” as if the homeowners do not claim the entire portion of Florida’s share of the settlement with the nation’s big banks, the money will be portioned out to other states.

Qualified residents include those who had their mortgage loans serviced by Ally/GMAC, Bank of America, Citi, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. The website is
