Miami Low-Income Senior Property-Tax Exemptions Accepted until June 3

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on March 11, 2013

HomeIf you are a low-income senior living in Miami, you have until June 3 to file an application for a property-tax exemption with the Miami-Dade Property Appraiser.

Amendment 11, approved by Florida voters in the November election, gave low-income seniors who have resided in their homes at least 25 years the additional property-tax exemption.

Applicants be 65 or older and have a household adjusted gross income of no more than $27,590 a year. The amendment exempts qualified seniors from paying taxes on the full value of their home if the market value is less than $250,000.

Information on filing the exemption is available from the Property Appraiser’s office at 305-375-4091.
