Renter’s Insurance Also Protects You from Liability

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on June 5, 2013

Red$graph_cropOut of the more than 2 million occupied rental units in the State of Florida, only a few hundred thousands have rental insurance on them. Why is that? It’s a decent deal when you look at it; the cost is roughly only $20-30 per month, and the policy could save you thousands.

If you have to temporarily move while your unit is being repaired, your living expenses would be covered. If someone breaks into your car and steals covered items, most renter policies cover the loss. If a person, or their property, is injured while they’re on your property, you’re covered.

Even if you don’t have a lot of expensive stuff, many people have nice electronics, and renter’s insurance can protect you from big costs of replacing those and other expenses that have nothing to do with the loss of property.
