Firms Competing for Zoo Miami Entertainment Area

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on August 23, 2013

RoadArrowMiami-Dade County commissioners want a Zoo Miami Entertainment Area that could include a water park, hotels and other entertainment venues, and two local companies want the contract. Dinosaur Park Miami Corp. and Miami Wilds LLC submitted proposals for the more than 100 acres within the zoo and an additional 279 acres within the nearby US Coast Guard.

The county requested the proposals include any combination of attractions, amusements, lodging, food service and themed retail space, and conference halls.

Bids have been submitted and now the long process of choosing a developer is underway, which includes oral presentations, follow up questions from the review committee and a committee recommendation to Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

After oral presentations, the review committee will discuss any additional questions with the proposers. Once that’s done, the committee is to recommend one of the two proposals to Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
