Versace Mansion Now Slated to Become a Hotel

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on September 23, 2013

YachtVM South Beach LLC is now the new owner of the former Versace mansion in South Beach. The winning bidder bought the oceanfront property on the infamous Ocean Drive for $41.5 million and plans to rebrand the home as a luxury hotel.

The plans include retaining much of the opulence Gianni Versace installed, including the swimming pool inlaid with 24-karat gold tiles, gold-plated bathroom fixtures, custom-made mosaic floorings and frescos. The new owners also plan to use the name Versace pending family approval.

The purchaser company also owns the Hotel Victor, which is next door to the Versace mansion and plans to incorporate the existing hotel with the newly attained property.

Tourists still flock to the home for pictures of where the famed designer was slain on the front steps.

VM South Beach placed the winning bid which was slightly higher than that placed by Donald Trump. If the VM deal falls through, Trump could still end up owning the property.
