Single Family Home Starts up in 3rd Quarter

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on November 30, 2011

Drive around the suburbs of South Florida and you might see something you haven’t seen in a while – home construction. Although the move-in numbers (757) don’t quite match the number of new home starts (940) in the third quarter, new home construction is slowly making a comeback in South Florida. The number at the peak of the boom set records at 2000 to 3000 a quarter. The bottom for South Florida passed long ago in 2009.

Builders once again have confidence in the market; “a bullish indicator,” says Brad Hunter the South Florida director of Metrostudy, the agency responsible for the market research.
