South Florida Sees Increase in Shopping Center Deals

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on December 2, 2011

The commercial real estate market is showing a slow uptick in sales of strip shopping centers in South Florida. This follows similar rising investor interest and dollars put into purchases of blocks of condominiums, apartment complexes and mobile home parks earlier this year.

Investors are putting their hopes and cash into retail space hoping for large spending by tourists during the upcoming season. There is already some movement locally in the tourism industry and that has encouraged investor optimism.

Although banks aren’t looking to lend money for retail space, these investors don’t need banks. Unfortunately though, some prices per square foot are priced so high by the owners that buyers aren’t willing just yet to be too eager to spur real growth in the market. But it is headed in the right direction.
