Canadian Snowbirds Buying Up Florida Real Estate

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on December 5, 2011

From mid-2010 to mid-2011, Canadians were responsible for approximately 10 percent of a home sale in Florida.

Citing bargain at the median price of roughly $151,000, Canadian targeted the southern half of the state, particularly the Tampa St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Miami-Fort Lauderdale Miami Beach, Orlando Kissimmee, Naples-Marco Island, and Cape Coral-Fort Myers markets.

For the best deals now, real estate agents are urging our neighbors to the north to buy at the high end of their price range and to show up with cash. Homeowners may be more willing to give discounts when cash is involved.
