Is Your Title Clear?

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on December 26, 2011

With so many foreclosed and short-sale homes coming to market, banks are eager to get properties into the hands of new buyers who will once again send the banks a check every month. But in the rush to get the papers signed, some new homeowners are finding at closing they are not being passed a clear title.

Like a background check on a person, a title search company will research the property and tell you if it has any outstanding taxes or liens against it. It’s better to know that you have a clean title before you show up at the closing, excited to finally buy the home of your dreams, and discover liens and back taxes apply.
