Why Title Insurance Matters in South Florida

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on January 26, 2012

A Florida couple recently discovered a typo made long ago on their property deed is not only blocking the foreclosure on their home now, but also spawning a lawsuit against them by Bank of America. Turns out, the address on the deed is for a different property altogether.

How did the deed get the wrong address?

Although the current owners, Barbara and Rick Borchers, had title insurance, that title company is now out of business. More disturbing is the fact that the home has gone through four different owners since the original error.

Having an attorney review your closing documents in advance can save you thousands.
