Miami Takes Top Spot of “Turnaround Towns”

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on February 10, 2012

The National Association of Realtor’s recently released its top ten list of “Turnaround Towns” with Miami topping the list this year. The state was the hardest in the nation to be hit with the number of foreclosures statewide at 40 percent, which explains why the number of towns now rebounding is also high.

Florida came close to shutting out all other states when eight of its cities made the list: Fort Lauderdale (8), Fort Meyers-Cape Coral (4), Sarasota-Bradenton (5), Naples (7), also listed were Lakeland-WinterHaven and Punta Gorda.

The Association takes into account a market’s appreciation in median price and reductions in inventory age and quantity.
