States Strike $26B Deal for Nation’s Banks to Ease Foreclosure Woes

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on February 16, 2012

Florida homeowners facing foreclosure and loss of their homes could be getting a break. Across the country the states’ attorney generals banded together against the nation’s five biggest lenders to halt the rapid and often illegal foreclosure process on the nations’ homeowners. Homes financed under Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; however, will be excluded from the deal.

$20K in Relief!

Homeowners who qualify for relief could see as much as $20,000 in aid. Much of the monies will go directly to victims of foreclosures, while part of the funds will allow states’ attorney generals to set up more mortgage counseling services and targeted investigations for future suspected mortgage fraud activities.
