Florida Realtors Say Existing Homes and Condo Sales Up in 4Q

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on February 19, 2012

Although an inch by inch recovery is far from the needed leaps and bounds for the real estate market, overall Florida home sales continue on an upward trend, notes attorney Isaac Benmergui.

For the fourth quarter 2011, existing home sale were up 7 percent; accounting for 42,038 homes sold. In 2011, the total number of sales were just shy of the 40k mark at 39,355. Prices did drop; however, but only by 1 percent from an average of $132,000 from $133,400 the year before.

Florida Realtors Chief Economist, Dr. John Turcillo, believes prices have stabilized and that the state’s financial outlook is improving, meaning the housing market will soon turnaround as well. The National Board of Realtors agrees and has been seeing similar trends across the country.
