Florida AG Pam Bondi Wants Homeowner Input on $300M Settlement

by Isaac Benmergui, Esq on May 13, 2012

Florida’s cut of the $25 billion settlement between the 49 state attorney generals and the nation’s five largest banks, will be $8.4 billion. Out of that cut, the agreement calls for at least $300 million to be set aside for consumer relief to prevent foreclosures, lessen the effects of foreclosures on homeowners and families, and strengthen law enforcement efforts against mortgage fraud.

The settlement further states the $300 million could be used for housing counselors, hotlines, foreclosure mediation programs, legal assistance, blight prevention, housing rehabilitation and training and staffing expenses.

So Bondi is asking Florida homeowners what they think. Until 5 p.m., May 14, the public may submit their suggestions by visiting: MyFloridaLegal.com
